RogerFITZSIMMONSPassed away peacefully on 26 August 2026, aged 83 years, whilst in the care of Hart Care Home, Yelverton. Dearly loved husband of Valerie (née Doidge), devoted father of Andrew and Peter, much-loved father-in-law of Josie (née Say) and Deborah (née Hanlon), cherished grandfather of Mathew, Cher, Daniel and Luke, and proud great-grandfather of Zara. Roger was the beloved son of the late Frank Fitzsimmons and Phyllis Fitzsimmons (née Townsend) of Eggbuckland, and a much-loved brother, uncle and friend to many. He will be remembered as a kind, resourceful and dependable man whose love of family, practical nature and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew him. The family would also like to acknowledge the longstanding love, friendship and support of Valerie's sister, Roma Armstrong, her husband Bruce, and their family, whose kindness and devotion over many decades meant so much to Roger and Valerie.
A graveside service will take place at Tavistock Cemetery on Monday 14 September 2026 at 2:30pm, presided over by The Revd Prebendary Roger Carlton. Funeral reception will be at the West Devon Club, Tavistock from 3:45pm food served from 4pm.
Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory of Roger, to St Edward's Church, Eggbuckland, towards the maintenance of the Church grounds and building may be made by retiring collection or via www.morrisbros.co.uk
