PaulGEORGHIOUOf Accrington & Cyprus. Passed away on 8th May 2019, aged 82 years. Paul came to England in 1953 aged 16 with £40 in his pocket, via boats from Cyprus to London. He stayed in London for a short while before travelling up to Manchester to work as a chef. 12 months after arriving in the UK, Paul got married and had 3 children, Nicholas, Androulla and Andrew. He also leaves daughter-in-law Jackie, son-in-law Terry and daughter-in-law Wendy, grandchildren Daniel, Gavin, Tanya, Sasha, Deme, Christina and Olivia, plus great-grandchildren Ria, Sophia, Abbey, Scarlett, Ceinna and Elle. In 1965 the family emigrated to Australia where he ran a café for 2 years until returning to England due to his wife's illness, Andrew was born in Australia. Paul then had cafes in Burnley and Accrington and also an electrical shop in Burnley. In later years he decided to buy properties and do work on them which he enjoyed. He also worked at Calderstones at Whalley for over 10 years. He was a very active man, as many people would have known. He met his friend Alice and enjoyed holidays with her and her family for a number of years. He spent most of his time in England and Cyprus and loved his family and grandchildren. He also loved planting flowers and gardening right up to his sudden illness in Cyprus. Paul's funeral service will take place on Wednesday 29th May at 1.00 p.m. in Accrington Crematorium Chapel, followed by burial in Accrington Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
