Frances was consistent in her qualities of kindness, good humour, elegance, dependability and goodwill as a colleague at Security Pacific Bank for many years. I was aware of her love of opera, and that she would travel even to Europe to hear Placido Domingo, furnishing her flat with several photographs of him. She was the epitome of Ireland with her attractive, Irish voice. We will never forget you Frances. May you Rest in Peace.

Frances Gibson – Tribute from Professor Richard Kitney

Frances was my secretary for many years when I was Head of the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College. She was an excellent secretary, with many skills. Principal amongst these was, probably, her interpersonal skills. She was known throughout the Imperial College for her ability to handle difficult situations. This was particularly important as one of the main difficulties, as Head of Department, is dealing with personal and interpersonal problems – Frances would always know how to defuse any situation. She was particularly good at handling student problems, which are always very important. Frances could give them sound advice, without in the least sounding patronising.

Frances was an Irish Lady in every sense. I really enjoyed working with her, she had a tremendous sense of humour. I quickly discovered that she was a major opera buff. On my first day with her (which was a Friday) having established her love of opera, I said “having dinner with Pavarotti tonight?”. (I thought, a joke.) She replied “no, that’s on Monday” - and she was probably serious.

Frances was a great colleague. We got a lot done, she helped me grow the Department and we always had fun.

Frances was a very special friend who was always very generous and ready to help- she heroically typed our son’s A level Art project as an emergency at the eleventh hour! But she was also such great company, interested in so many cultural aspects of London life, but always willing to listen to others - such a wonderful aspect of her friendship. Her devotion to her family was heart warming - it was lovely to hear her tell news of her two grandchildren as they progressed in their lives.
Frances will live on in our memories but is already much missed in our group of old friends.
God bless and rest in peace.

My name is John, I am francis cleaner from 2006-2022 before she was moved to care home in 2022.I met Frances in 2006 when I worked as a caretaker in the Anthenna Court building where she lived.she was an exceptional person who always displayed kindness and generosity and had a positive impact on my life and that of my family. Francis even knew my kids birthdays and would send them gifts every year. Her memory will always hold a special place in my heart and serve as an inspiration for me to pay forward the kindness and generosity that she showed me.
Although we are far away,we will hold you close in our thoughts and in our heart today and always.
You will be missed but Never forgotten. May your soul rest in perfect peace my friend.

I first met Frances when I joined Secpac at Arundel Street in 1979.

Frances loved the arts, but especially the Royal Opera House or a trip to the ballet. It wasn’t long before we discovered we shared the same birthday. She was vivacious, glamorous, warm hearted and fun to be with.
Frances will be fondly remembered. God bless Frances and Rest In Peace.

I remember with great pleasure Frances' delightful company at countless operas, ballets, concerts and plays - always such fun. In particular there was Frances' table in the magnificent Floral Hall of the Royal Opera House, having smoked salmon sandwiches and a glass of Prosecco and waited on hand and foot by the lovely Cliff and Liam. Another happy memory was the wonderful Christmas Parties Frances organised at the Bagrit Centre.

Frances - you are certainly much missed. With love, Ainslee xx

Frances was a dear friend whom I met at work - we both worked at Imperial College and we stayed in regular contact after her retirement. We used to meet for lunch either in her favourite Royal Geographical Society restaurant or the Ognisko at South Kensington. We exchanged updates about our respective lives - hers was always about wonderful visits to opera and ballet and mine very boring about work. She was a very kind and considerate lady.
RIP dear friend.

Frances was a dear friend I have known since I was 21. Every year we met up and spent wonderful days together, visiting art galleries and exhibitions in London or the countryside where I live in France. She was a true friend and very much missed. Sandra Bailey
