I was very sad to learn (on 01/06/26) of the passing of Robert Gradon. We were friends at school (Haileybury) - though not close friends, Robert was Top Scholar of his year when he began at Haileybury in 1970. I had won the same top scholarship in 1969, so we had this experience in common. We also shared a vibrant faith in Jesus as Saviour. I also met him briefly at Cambridge, where he was involved with the Navigators, a Christian group.

I was always impressed by his quiet and sincere Christian faith, and his gentle, loving, Christ-like character.

To those who mourn, may I encourage you with those wonderful words of Jesus in John 11 v 25 (ff): "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die yet shall he live; and he who lives and believes in me shall never die..."

Bob was man of integrity who lived a full and purposeful life for the benefit of others. Kindness and consideration were evident in the way he handled people, his advice was always well thought through and wise yet he could be counted on to see the funny side of things. A Christian gentleman and true friend.
To Joy, Tim and Katy I send my deepest condolences.
