Philip ReginaldGREENWOODPhil was born on 8th November 1931, in Formby Merseyside and passed away peacefully at Southport Hospital on 11th February 2024. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Jean, three children, Carole, Beverley and Peter, grandchildren Simon, Christopher, Amy and Faye, great grandchildren, Aisha, Alfie, Freddie and Eva, son-in-law Dwight, daughter-in-law Anne and with fond memories of his late son-in-law Mike. Phil made Formby his home for his entire life. After leaving school at aged 14, he started his career as a joiner at Dean Brothers and subsequently the Costain Group of Crosby, working on many projects in the Liverpool area until his retirement. In his youth Phil was a keen cyclist and made many lifetime friends though his cycling. Phil loved going to Anfield to watch Liverpool FC and spent many happy hours walking with his dog on Formby beach and the pinewoods. He also enjoyed sports on TV including football, tennis, golf and cycling. Phil was preceded in death by his parents Hilda and Edward Greenwood, brother Joel and sisters, Marguerite and Connie and son-in-law Michael Bradburn. A special thanks to the staff at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals for their kind care during his final weeks.
A funeral service will be held at Thornton Crematorium on Friday 1st March 2024 at 11.15 hrs.
