John FinbarrHAROLDOn 26th February 2026 at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary after a short illness aged 87 years.

Much loved brother to Bob, cousin to Ann and Don, Valerie and Terry and friend to Cec and Harold, a much loved friend and neighbour to Hannah and Kevin, Lynn and John, Marcus and Julie. John was an extraordinarily kind man, known to so many after years of teaching and cricket coaching.

His loss is keenly felt.

His funeral will be held at St Patrick's Church, New North Road at 11.00am on the 9th April followed by committal at Huddersfield Crematorium at 12.30pm.

The wake will be held at Cowcliffe and Netheroyd Sports and Social Club. All who knew John are welcome to attend.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if so desired to Kirkwood Hospice for which a donation box will be available at the service.

Mr Harold, we had some really good teachers at St Augustine’s, but you really was one of the best! I have never forgotten the support you gave in the Geography class, the rugby pitch and also the cricket field. Continue bowling those “off cutters” in the sky and may you now rest easy in eternal peace.

Gave a big portion of his life to
teaching and also coaching cricket and rugby.
I knew him as a pupil and later as a teaching colleague. He was always supportive to those in his care and to others.
