MervynHAYESPassed away peacefully on 25th January 2026 at Bodmin Hospital, Mervyn John, aged 84 years of Trewoon, St Austell, formerly of Starcross, Exeter.
Beloved husband of Maggie, loving dad of Jacqueline and Nicholas, father-in-law of Duncan, dear grandad of Galesha and Devina.
Merv was Maggie's rock. For 65 years, he had been her soulmate through life's adventures. Merv offered encouragement during her endeavours, and they were both looking forward to making friends, getting involved in village life and spending their last years together in Cornwall. Sadly Mervyn's health deteriorated when they moved to Trewoon in 2020 so they spent their time at home, unable to attend events and activities. Maggie is grateful to have experienced kindness from those she has connected with in Trewoon and feels the villagers would have welcomed Mervyn too.
A private cremation has taken place at Mervyn's request.
