We got to know Jackie and David Henwood as a young couple, when they moved into the village we were just settling into.
What struck us over the years was what hard workers they were, intent on building a good future for Helen and Robert, their children at that time.
David would work long hours in setting up his little business, as it was then - and Jackie not only did all his office work and accounting, but all the usual family duties as well. Her children were always well-turned out and polite.
We used to wonder how she achieved all this, and seemed to stay always cheerful and well in control of everything.
The Henwoods achieved their aims, but the whole village admired the hard work they consistently put in.
We moved out of the village in 1998, so have only just learned that the little family grew as well - and that Jackie became a grandmother. We are sure that she was one of those special Grans - because she was a very special lady.
It was a cruel fate that took her so young; just when she started reaping her rewards. But we know that she did not go alone into That Dark Night - you, her family, would all have surrounded her with love. Hold onto that... And be inspired by this very selfless, supportive woman - Jackie Henwood.
Our thoughts are with you, David, especially; we regarded you both as the perfect team.
With love - Graham and Jackie (we lived in 5 Rose Terrace.)
