My memories of Mark are of someone who was kind, calm, helpful and thoughtful.
Many a time Mark studied, diagnosed and fixed problems that we passed over to him, for which I, and others, are very grateful.
I would often chat to Mark while getting ready or changing back into work clothes after a lunchtime run.
His dedication to both work and running was inspirational.
Now I'm retired, I have met up with Mark and other ex- colleagues and partners for an evening meal at Lily's vegetarian restaurant every so often, and I say thank you for your interesting company and conversation. We will miss you.
RIP, and condolences to all the family.

As a running mate, I can only ever remember Mark always being encouraging of his many lunchtime running partners and praising their performances. He was always modest of his own achievements even though they were up there with the best. He certainly knew how to tease us into doing one more repetition in sessions such as Hellfire Hill in Manchester’s Queens Park. Mark loved going to the Lakes regularly and I was honoured to share a weekend when he joined my family in my first ascent of Scafell.
RIP Mark

My thoughts and deepest condolences are with Michelle, Sarah, and Hannah ❤️

I had the pleasure and the privilege to have known Mark my whole working life, ( about 40 years ). I sat next to Mark for most of those years, so we had endless discussions about work, holidays, centreparks, running ( which he got me into ), topical frustrations, and just generally had fun trying to set the world to rights. We worked very closely together on numerous projects, often having long, enjoyable discussions about the best way to do things and he used to tell me many of his ‘breakthrough brainwaves’ came whilst ‘washing the pots’. In work, Mark was professional, tenacious, innovative, full of common sense, so very bright, yet always approachable and willing to help anyone with anything.

Mark was such a lovely guy and an amazing friend who I will miss very deeply.

It's amazing seeing private friends view of Mark and runners and especially him being referred to as "coach Hobson".

I was Mark's 2015 apprentice at work and to try and explain the value of Marks unique tutoring and human wisdom is impossible. He will be sorely missed by me and many at work and I would not be half the person or professional I am today without the bespoke and incredible input Mark spent lots of personal time providing.

Sending love to the family at this difficult time. Rip Mark. May you run forever now.

Mark was my brother in law for 36 years and when he married my sister it was the only time I saw him not wearing shorts, he seemed to wear them no matter what the weather was like!
There is a lot to admire about Mark, his running achievements were amazing, he was the fittest man I knew. By far though his biggest achievement was the way he felt about his family he was a loving husband, a brilliant and encouraging dad and the sweetest Papa to his lovely grandchildren.
The love they shared will last forever he will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Mark 💔
