Marjorie AnneHOOLEYAnne was born 25th April 1932 in Farnham, Surrey. Raised in India, she returned to England in her teens. She trained as a State Enrolled Nurse in Nottingham, and during her training met her husband Ray. They married in 1953 and had two daughters, Jennifer and Kerry, two grandchildren, Shay and Kristen, and two great grandchildren, Neave and Marley. Anne was a great seamstress and made many of her childrens' clothes herself. They were always beautifully dressed! She also enjoyed making costumes for her grandchildren and helping them put on plays for the family. Anne's nursing career saw her caring for neonatal babies and new mothers at Willingham maternity hospital and the premature babies' unit at St George's Hospital; working with disabled children at St. Francis School; and caring for the elderly and mentally ill at the private nursing home, Langleys, in North Hykeham. Anne was also a great linguist, speaking German confidently. She visited Germany often and maintained friendships in the country over the years as an enthusiastic penpal. She was also an avid reader and a keen gardener. Anne travelled extensively well into her retirement until her health began to decline. Sadly, Anne passed away peacefully at Lincoln County Hospital on October 11, 2022 with her husband and daughters at her bedside. Her humour, thoughtfulness and kindness will be missed by her family and friends.
