John was a valued friend and colleague for many years. Throughout his career, he proved to be a technically and managerially strong leader who truly led from the front. He was a real stalwart character, however tough the challenge, John would always rise to meet it and he would never give up until it was resolved. There are many people whose careers benefitted from John's support and his commitment to training apprentices via NETA and the like.
John had a wide circle of friends to whom he was always willing to offer his help and support. He was always great company over a couple of pints (or more!) with his great sense of humour.
I am very sorry to be unable to attend John's funeral, due to family commitments, but will be thinking of him and his family.

You were a true friend & colleague, you inspired me in ways I can never repay, always there to offer help advice & satire, never afraid to voice an opinion, I will miss you forever
God Bless you
