PeterHUGHESOn Thursday, September 9, Peter, aged 73, passed away peacefully in hospital, with his family by his side, following a brave fight with pancreatic cancer. Peter spent his early life in Accrington and after his marriage, he lived in Knuzden, Oswaldtwistle and Baxenden. He was the devoted and loving husband of Christine, much loved and respected dad of the late Nikki and Gareth and his fiancée Laura. He was the cherished grandad of Mia, Aada and Oscar and a dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. Peter spent most of his working life within different aspects of the printing industry, being a partner in Highprint in the 80s and 90s, and before his retirement in December 2012, he was sales manager for an adhesive labels company in Bollington, travelling extensively both home and abroad. Peter loved gardening and watching all kinds of sport and in his younger days, fishing, and playing snooker and pool for various teams around East Lancashire. He loved caravanning and, until recently, enjoyed spending time at his caravan in Pilling. Freemasonry also played a big part in his life and many long standing friendships were made over the years. Most of all he was a proud family man and a doting grandad and loved nothing more than being all together with his family. Peter’s funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, September 17 at 10.20am. Family flowers only; donations to ELHT & ME in Peter’s memory would be gratefully received by the funeral director. Donations received will be allocated specifically to Ward C6 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital in grateful thanks for the care and compassion shown to Peter and all the family in his final three weeks.
