PeterJOHNSONSuddenly passed away on Saturday, July 5, aged 82 years.
A devoted husband to Susan, a treasured dad to Lucy, and a much-loved grandad to Florence, Peter was also a dear brother to the late Jean. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Peter left school with the determination and qualifications to pursue his dream career as an electrical engineer. He joined Approved Electronics in Clitheroe, where he remained for over 30 years, rising through the ranks to become chief inspector of electronics. His dedication, knowledge, and unwavering work ethic earned him not only professional respect but also lifelong friendships.
Away from work, Peter was a man of many passions. A dedicated golfer, he was undeterred by the weather – rain, wind or hail, Peter was always ready for a round. A loyal supporter of Blackburn Rovers, he followed his team through every high and low. In his later years, he spent many enjoyable evenings at the Burnley Road Bowling Club, sharing laughter and stories over a couple of pints with good friends.
Peter met Susan, the love of his life, at St Stephen’s Working Men’s Club. After a little persuasion, Susan agreed to a first date, and from that moment on, their love story unfolded. Peter showed her the beauty of the Ribble Valley, and within a year they were married. Three years later, their daughter Lucy arrived, completing their loving family. Family holidays to the Cotswolds and Wales created cherished memories, with Peter always placing his family at the centre of everything he did. Lucy was, in every way, a true daddy’s girl, and when he became a grandfather, Peter’s pride and joy knew no bounds. Florence brought him immeasurable happiness, she completed his world.
Peter’s kindness, quiet strength, and sense of humour will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion. Peter’s funeral service and cremation will be held at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road, Accrington, BB5 6HA on Monday, July 21, at 12.20pm.
