Died peacefully on Monday 26th January, aged 89, in the wonderful care of Royal Star and Garter Care Home, Solihull.

Devoted husband of Janet (deceased), dearly loved father of David and Andrew, father-in-law of Tracy. Much loved grandad of Matthew and wife Jess, Steph and husband Alex, and great grandad of Daisy and Freddie.

Former Bakery lecturer at Henley College Coventry.

The funeral service will be held at Canon Hill Chapel, Canley Crematorium on Thursday 26th February at 10:30am.

No mourning clothes please.

Family flowers only.

We are sorry to the Kates family for your loss of Ivan, much loved dad, father in law, grandad and great grandad. We had the pleasure of knowing him for nearly 40 years through Dave and Tracy. He always had a lovely smile and lots of stories to tell. Lovely man. He is at peace now and with Janet. All our love and condolences Jane, Martin, Thomas and Mara xxx

We share fond memories of Ivan, who was our bakery lecturer at Henley College, Coventry, where we met in September 1967.
We were honoured to have him make our wedding cake in May 1973.
