Alexander Josef KolajKOLAJIn loving memory of Alexander Josef Kolaj Born 29th April 1959 in Coventry, unexpectedly passed away 6th August 2024.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alec Kolaj, who left us suddenly on Tuesday 6th August 2024 at the age of 65.

He was a beloved father to Lucy, a devoted Husband to Lesley and a supportive brother and friend to many.

Life and Legacy: Alec was born and raised in Coventry, he attended Our Lady of the Assumption School and Bishop Ullathorne School and went on to study an apprenticeship as a tool maker/engineer. He had a passion for life, he was a talented gardener, often supplying friends and family with plants for their gardens. He was a keen lepidopterist, interested in moths and butterflies, and the Mothing Community will miss him dearly. Alec was also a talented pencil artist and had a great eye for detail.

Family: Alec is survived by his wife of 37 years and his 36-year-old daughter also his siblings, Elizabeth, Susie, Helen and Richard.

Memorial Service: A memorial service will be held on Friday 6th September at 2.15pm in Cannon Hill Chapel, Canley Crematorium. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate Alec's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.

Special Message: Alec's spirit will live on, in the garden that he tended so passionately, and in the butterflies and moths that brought him so much joy. Look to the sky, and with the stars you will find him.

Alec was a genuine and lovely guy. He would do anything for you. I can still hear his laughter when I think of him. This makes me smile.
He really loved his family and was such a good brother to my auntie Dzidzia and my mum Susie. I was honoured to be his bridesmaid at his wedding to my darling auntie Lesley. They were absolutely meant for each other.
I remember his fantastic art work and how he loved Kate Bush and Toyah!
He was a brilliant gardener and my mum always said he was the most naturally gifted gardener she ever knew…I think we were all a little jealous of this!
The thing I remember most though is how proud he was of his daughter Lucy. I hope she continues his love of travel and embraces life as we all know Alec would absolutely want her too.
I loved my uncle Alec very much and I will miss him dearly. We all will.

I’m going to miss you so much Uncle Alec, I’ll raise a vodka and cherry juice for you. I might even try some of Lucy’s shan just for you. I’ll make sure Lucy knows how to make pierogi and gwonky and keep the traditions alive. All my love always. Sammy
