GlendaLANCECharity Campaigner, Glenda Lance, died peacefully at home in Beeches Road, Chelmsford, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, 10th February 2022. Glenda was a loving parent and grandparent, but what she was behind these roles, was a staunch charity worker, who raised thousands for the Chelmsford Hospice in the 1980's and then started The Audrey Appleton Trust to help provide care for all people suffering from all terminal illnesses. Glenda Rosanna Margaret Lance was born on 28th December 1933, in Chelmsford and lived there all her life. She held her first coffee morning for the Hospice in 1980 and since then, she has worked tirelessly for her causes, creating The Audrey Appleton Trust in 1987, working at coffee mornings, charity shops and finding many other ways to raise funds. She leaves three children and four grandchildren. Her life will be celebrated at Central Baptist Church, Chelmsford at 2pm on Friday, 18th March.

Thank you Glenda for her support and generosity to us and our students at Abberton Rural Training with the kind donation of the use of the minibuses every week for free for the past few years which has meant that isolated and vulnerable adults could get the support and help they needed to survive and succeed.

Her generosity has helped 9 people in the past two years be alive today due to the severity of their suicide attempts and risk, and many many more to achieve far more than they thought possible despite multiple barriers. We are so sad to hear of your passing and hope you rest in peace after you’re exceptional contribution to charity across the area. Thank you 🙏
