Anthony CharlesLEWISIt is with deep sadness that the family of Mr. Anthony Charles Lewis, known to all as Tony, announce his peaceful passing at the University Hospital of Wales on 30th July 2025, aged 85 years.
Formerly of Llandaff, Tony was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Though based in Llandaff, he was also well known and warmly regarded throughout the wider community.
Tony was first married to Joan, with whom he shared many cherished years until she sadly passed away in 1985. Together they raised three children - Angela, Karen, and Richard - whom he adored. He later married Anne, who also brought companionship and joy into his life. He was predeceased by both.
A devoted father to Angela, Karen, and Richard, and a respected father-in-law to Gary, David, and Alison, Tony's life was rooted in family, and he took great pride in the love and bonds they shared. He was a proud grandfather to Sheldon, Ryan, Jordan, and Matthew, and took great joy in watching their lives unfold. He also warmly welcomed their partners, Lottie and Megan, as part of the family. His guidance, support, and great humour will be deeply missed by them all.
Tony is also lovingly remembered by his sister Mary and brother-in-law Graham, along with extended family and many dear friends.
In addition to his devotion to family and community, Tony was a long-serving life member of the United Services Mess. He gave generously of his time and energy to the institution, contributing greatly to its spirit and camaraderie over the years - a commitment that reflected his deep sense of service and loyalty.
For the last five months of his life, Tony was a resident of Heol Don Care Home, where he was treated with exceptional kindness, compassion, and dignity. The family are deeply grateful for the outstanding care, attention, and warmth shown to him by the dedicated staff during this time.
Tony will be remembered for his warmth, strength of character, and unwavering love for those around him. He was a man who valued friendship, enjoyed a good story, and could always be relied upon for a smile or a laugh. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, integrity, and devotion lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Resting at D J Evans Forse & Co Funeral Home until the service on Friday 5th September 2025 at Thornhill Crematorium, Wenallt Chapel at 12.30pm.
Family flowers only please, but donations to DKMS will be gratefully received on the day.
