From Malawi, thousands of miles from Swansea, I arrived in Swansea in September 1990, to study for my masters degree at the then University of Wales at Swansea. Jim and Marjory were one of the first families to have warmly received me at Rhyddings Park Presbyterian Church in Uplands, Swansea.

I successfully completed my studies 2 years later and they contributed enormously to my success. I went on to study for my PhD at the University of East Anglia five years later. While in Swansea, my wife visited me and Jim and Marjory received her quite well.

My family and I will therefore never forget them. In 2014, we visited them in Tycoch where we had a short but very memorable occasion. That was the last time we saw them. May the good Lord bless them and family!
