Doris will be sadly missed. A true pioneer in employment law she combined strength with compassion and humility and was an inspiration to many. When I formed the first Law At Work board I invited her to join it as a non-executive director, confident that her influence would be profound, positive and far reaching. It was and she was loved and respected by all whose lives she touched.

My wife and I were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Doris whom we first knew through our association with Stirling University when she was Chair of the University Court. In that role she was always the most astute, incisive and clear-headed person in the room, able immediately to see the essence of the issue in hand and to identify what options there were to deal with it, but never with the least hint of vanity or assumption of priority, and always with absolute integrity. Her wit and deft touch lightened any occasion, formal or social, and that wonderful laugh - it still rings in our ears.
