Valerie (Val)LLOYDVal passed away at her home in London on 21st May 2026 after a long illness. Beloved wife of Robert and loving mother of Samantha and Rebecca, she had a long career of public service including being the Assembly Member for Swansea East from 2001 to 2011. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private funeral service will be held in London on Thursday 11th June with a celebration of her life to be held in Swansea later in the year.

I have very fond memories of working in Val's National Assembly for Wales and campaigning alongside her in Swansea East. Val was kind, fair and deeply commited to helping others. I feel privileged to have known her, and would like to send my deepest sympathies to her family and close friends.

So sorry to hear of Val’s passing. A dedicated nurse and passionate nurse educationalist I worked with Val for many years at Swansea Uni.Sincere condolences to the family, rest peacefully Val.

So sad to read of Val's passing. I attended Swansea college with her and baby sat the girls occasionally.
