LauraLOMASIt is with a heavy heart that the Cole-Lomas family announce the indelible loss of our matriarch, Laura Lomas née Beach. Laura passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, surrounded by family.
An inspiration to us all, Laura was a shrewd businesswoman, who ran The Stag and Hounds pub with her beloved husband of 49 years, Peter Lomas in Virginia Water for 24 years before retiring in the early 1990s. Before running The Stag and Hounds, the pair ran the Halfway House in Bucks Horn Oak, Hampshire, for six years.
Laura had time for everyone and loved to show small acts of kindness to others. Whether it was being a shoulder to cry on, or providing home cooked dinners for those in need, Laura was kind, thoughtful and generous.
A social butterfly, Laura loved nothing more than being surrounded by people. Laura truly shone as a landlady, and after retirement worked as a dinner lady at Trumps Green School in Virginia Water during the mid 90s, where children would line up to hold her hand in the playground.
Laura loved travelling and spending time with her daughter, Anita, together the pair visited Bermuda, France and Devon making the most incredible memories. Grandchildren remember drawers at Nana's filled with fluffy socks, pyjamas and towels warmed up on the radiator and getting snuggly on the sofa with their Nana under a blanket with a hot chocolate.
In Laura's life she took great pleasure in quiet luxury, like sipping on a gin and tonic served in a crystal glass sat on a comfy chair by the fire, or listening to Andre Rieu. Laura loved nature and being in her garden where she grew green beans, tomatoes and gorgeous flowers, and put cute fairy statues.
Above all, Laura had a sunny disposition and knew how to turn a bad day into a good one in minutes. She will be unbelievably missed by all who knew her will forever be deeply loved by many.
