I am not even ready to say the words out loud, my beautiful, funny, life and soul of the party, tough as old boots Nanny passed away over the weekend. Her passing has left a hole in all our hearts, and in our family.

I like to think there is a little bit of you in all of us, and that’s makes me the strong, independent (and a bit little sassy!) woman I am today, it’s crazy how someone can shape you without you even knowing it. I hope you heard me say that while I was at your bedside, because of your strength I know we are all going to be ok.

The memories of our childhood sleepovers watching Mannequin on quilts on the floor, Christmas spent around your over sized Christmas tree so we couldn’t see the tele, (mirroring my tree Forrest now that it blocks off an entire room in my house) - you was so proud of the home I’d created - tables diagonal filling the living room with us all, NYE we’d all be out in the street singing (or trying too) the words to Auld Lang Syne, dancing in the living room with the remote control and your glitter wig to Cher, (I can hear you saying - well 👏🏻- do you believe in life after love (the irony), bringing the coal through the house for luck, on my aunties shoulders at Coldplay, Sundays with 2 roast dinner sittings to fit us all in (I don’t know how you didn’t burn the lot) or a white fish, small one, crispy. You brought our beautiful (and completely mad) family together making it even more difficult you aren’t here anymore. Us being all around you at the end is something I know will bring us great comfort in the days, weeks and years to come.

I love you all the world and back again Nanny … twice was ours and I will hold that final time we got to say it to each other in my heart forever!

Good night Nanny, God Bless ♥️ ☕️

To Lily

Thank you for welcoming me into your family with open arms. I’ll never forget the special memories we shared together, especially your dream of seeing the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. You were so loved by all your friends and family. I can’t find the words to thank you for everything you’ve done for me and your beautiful granddaughter Sophie over the years. Until we meet again, rest in peace and keep smiling down on us.

Lots of love
