Henry JamesMARTELLLocal businessman, partner, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away peacefully after a short illness aged 79 years.

Henry and his brother Charles first started their careers in the Printer/Stationer industry when they discovered a printing press at their school, St Lawrence College in Ramsgate.

By 1967 they had opened their first printworks and then in 1969 opened their stationary shop 'Martell Press' in Northdown Road, Cliftonville.

Henry will be sadly missed by friends, family and all that knew him. Funeral Service to take place at St Andrews Church, Reading Street, Broadstairs on Thursday 29th May 2025 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a private committal R.S.V.P. Gore Brothers.

Family flowers only please.

I remember Henry well! Back in the day, before his Dad let him loose on a new business idea, he was an mate of mine and my girlfriend Penny Leather. On one occasion, he bet me he could get home to his Dad's house in Westgate before I could!
He was driving a Sunbeam Alpine and I was in my Ford Anglia . We were kneck to kneck most of the way until near his house when he knew the way and I didn't! He won. We avoided arrest for dodgy driving and....well, other stuff involving blood/alcohol levels and lived to tell the tale.
Sad to hear he's gone at such a young age

You’ve been in and out of my life for 45 years Henry, maybe longer, but I remember being a small girl and my Dad worked for you (back in the day). My Mum & Bill had such a big place in their heart for you and Brian and you always welcomed me and my Husband Scott into your home when we came to visit. You will be missed 💔 Leah & Scott
