Mummy - skin so soft and snuggly and smells so peachy - always feel that around me, even 15 years after your passing, your care and love around me.
You were the most selfless person, never putting yourself first, never asking for anything despite many traumas. Away from your home country, Austria, your parents and your siblings, devoting yourself in England, there with your husband and baby, learning a new language.
You were highly skilled, intelligent and street savvy, despite war interrupting school and causing the loss of all your teenage years. A conflict abyss sucking down all your hopes and dreams though you were never cowed and rose above everything.
You always worked hard, scrimped and saved and made sure your child did not go without even if you did. You were the best Mother anyone could ever have.
You had a sparkle and lust for life that was only ever rewarded occasionally. On the outside you were demure, elegant, quiet and unassuming, on the inside you were dancing, passionate, sexy and wild!
You loved to travel and make small collections of things and your favourite memorabilia was of the Royal Family, in particular Queen Elizabeth the second, whose life ran in many parallels to yours.
You were beautiful with wise, luminous green eyes and an occasional look of Marlene Dietrich. You were a flame too early extinguished and will be loved and missed forever and you are now free as a bird and by night, twinkling and dancing, the largest star in the sky.
Your loving daughter, Caroline xx
