It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Morton McNeil, who left us on 26 October 2025 at Scunthorpe General Hospital, aged 77. Mort was suffering with a terminal illness but his passing was nonetheless, sudden and unexpected.
Many thanks to all the NHS heroes who have taken care of dad over the last few years.
James was born on 3 March 1948 in Carluke, Scotland, to Mary and Gordon McNeil. He grew up in a close loving family alongside his brothers Gordon and William, and his sister Janice, forming bonds that remained strong throughout his life.
James is survived by his sons, Scott and Craig, his siblings, extended family, and many dear friends. His absence will be deeply felt, but his life will be celebrated with gratitude for every moment shared together.
Mort did not want a fuss and elected for a direct cremation, so sadly there will be no ceremony or wake.
May he rest in peace.
