I was so sorry to hear this, he taught me a lot about myself and he was an inspiration to so many,
As a 15/16 year old he taught me self discipline and respect for others, trained with him in bulwell church , strelly, leicester and at his home in basford in school holidays, and again when he started training at his house, great instructor and a great mentor, rest in peace phil , an inspiration to all his students. kev toms.

Sorry this tribute is so late
My students and I attended many of Phil’s courses. He was an enthusiastic partitioner of martial arts and a great instructor, always ready to impart his knowledge. We enjoyed being with him and he will be greatly missed. Our condolences to his family but what memories we have off him

Phil was a great inspiration to me. Some of my happiest memories I have are training at St Paul's in the 1980s. He was a kind and generous person and will be sadly missed. My condolences go to his family. Neville Scholten.

So sad to hear about the passing of my first martial arts instructor. He was an inspiration to me, he taught me so much about having belief in yourself and pushing yourself to the limit. I have fond memories of training at St Paul’s church hall in Hyson Green back in the 1980’s, Phil would give me a lift home in his blue Mini. He is a legend. 👊🏾
