MauriceMETHAMpassed away peacefully at Turfcote Nursing Home on Saturday, June 5, aged 83 years. A Haslingden man all his life, Maurice previously worked for British Rail before moving onto United Utilities where he worked as a Plant Maintenance Operative until hisretirement. Maurice enjoyed going out with friends for meals and was a member of St Peter’s church, Laneside for many years. Another of his pastimes was walking and he had an appreciation of fine wines. An ex-Lancashire Fusilier, he served with the regiment in Cyprus and Germany. He was also a long standing member of the Royal British Legion. Brother to Eleanor, he leaves several nephews and nieces and also a cousin Catrina. He will be sadly missed by many local friends. A funeral service will take place at St Peter’s Laneside on Tuesday, June 22 at 10.30am, led by the Reverend Stephen Brown, followed by a committal service at Accrington Crematorium at 11.40am.
