The obituary notice of Nick MORTON

Dear Niki,
You will be sorely missed.
I’m thinking about some of our shared childhood memorable experiences - not catching the bus home from school so that we could spend the money on apples or sweets. You were probably four at the time, canoeing on Hayling Island, saving me when the boys tied me to a tree on Purley Downs!
Many cowboy and Indian games, much to your annoyance I was always the chief , teaching each other to rock and roll to the Everly Brothers and Bill Haley, you did take the lead then.
Later in our lives we had so many holiday adventures in France with you and Helen. You were stopped and breathalysed by the gendarmes, who told you ‘Sir you haven’t had enough wine!!! ‘ I think they must have liked you for we all thought you would fail the test.
Wonderful times at New Year parties and concerts where we all danced the night away. Fishing and kayaking with Gordon.
The list could be endless. What great fun we have had over the years.
I loved you not only as a cousin but as a brother, who was adventurous, kind , funny, a great teller of tales, sometimes exasperating but alway loveable.
You will always be loved and greatly missed.

It is so hard to say a final goodbye to you Nick. I will miss our conversations.  I will miss your enthusiasm when you found anything new and unknown to you.  I will miss your sense of adventure. I will miss our shared laughter on ridiculous things.  I will miss your kindness.


I know that you are now reunited with the love of your life. It is comforting to know that you and Helen will spend eternity together.
