Mary CassieMULKERRINRetired teacher Mary Cassie Mulkerrin died peacefully at the East Lancashire Hospice on Thursday, January 12. Born on June 28, 1937, Cassie was a teacher at St Hilda’s Girls High School, Burnley until retirement in 1995. Upon retirement she enjoyed her lifelong passions of reading, foreign travel and following Manchester United. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a much-loved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Wife of the late Jim and sister to Pauline, she was the mother of Martin, Dominic and Gemma and mother-in-law to Jane and Catherine. She was the grandmother to Jimmy, Dominic and Cavan and great-grandmother to Phoebe, Isabelle, Roxie and Ava. Her funeral will take place with a requiem mass on Monday, January 30 at St Anne’s Church, Accrington at 1pm, followed by burial at Accrington Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations to East Lancashire Hospice via Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
