Hi all, just a quick reminder for Mum’s service on Thursday.

📍 Thornhill Crematorium – Briwnant (small) Chapel
🕒 Service starts at 3:00pm

Please aim to be outside the Briwnant Chapel by 2:45pm at the latest, so we can gather and enter together with the funeral director.

I’ve attached a map showing the turn-off from Thornhill Road and the location of the Briwnant Chapel (the smaller chapel). Please ensure you go to this chapel, as there is another larger chapel nearby.

Parking is available on site. The weather is forecast to be good. There is a small waiting area with seating, but people are also welcome to gather outside the chapel entrance. Please be respectful if another service is taking place nearby.

Smart dress code is requested, though black is not required as this is a celebration of Mum’s life.

The funeral director and Louise Green (celebrant) will be there to guide everyone.

There will also be a collection for Cancer Research UK in lieu of flowers, passed around during the service. If anyone wishes to contribute, please bring cash or loose change, as the collection will be cash only.

There will be no formal wake afterwards, but you are welcome to stay outside after the service to say your goodbyes and then make your own arrangements. X

Nanny Sandy will always be a special part of my childhood memories.

Even though we lived far away in Australia while she was in Wales, the time we spent together meant a lot. I’ll always remember our trips to the Gower, staying in the caravan, walking along the beach looking for cockles and of course being spoiled with lollies… something she was VERY good at hehe.

She had such a love for the outdoors (like me!), whether it was her beautiful garden back home or enjoying the sunshine when she visited us in Australia. I love how much she’d love getting a tan - something that’s definitely been passed down to my sister Becky - who has her lovely olive skin, a trait that I unfortunately did not receive despite my fondness for lying in the sun too.

There are little things that still remind me of her, like peanut butter on toast with a glass of milk, which takes me straight back to being a kid in her care. She called it supper and I bloody loved it as I never got “second dinner” at home ha. She had a way of making simple moments feel comforting and warm.

Although distance meant we didn’t see each other as much in later years, I’ll always be grateful for those early memories and the love she showed us.

Rest peacefully, Nanny Sandy up there with your beloved Tony ❤️
