Nick ‘Nobby’ Newbold – you are an absolute legend!

The only person I know whose phone crashed as the memory was too full of contacts – but that is the measure of the man. He had this ability to spot a face and a name spanning decades, a unique gift. He never saw the bad in people, only the good and he created this huge network around him. Always trying to help, always trying to connect others. Totally selfless

I have known him since 1970, the photo is of us in first year King Henry Junior School. He remained my friend ever since.

I was lucky to play football and rugby with Nick at King Henry VIII School and he remained a life-long friend who always made a massive effort to bring together his schoolfriends on a regular basis — even though we live around the world. He remained to me a friend who was full of fun and always brought laughter to us all. This photo shows a reunion of school friends at Coventry Rugby. I know all of his schoolfriends are devastated by his passing and wish Siobhan and the family well.

Nick was the nicest and sincerest person we ever met and always thourght of others before himself.We were grateful for knowing him, he was a gentleman in every sense of the word. Rest in peace George and Sam Kelman

Dearest Nick, you left a huge impact on me and family when we first met all those years ago through Coventry Rugby Club. We had some great times at the Rugby, celebrating at Twickenham and a lot of fun at charity events. I always remember the night you and Pat drove down to London for the Downs Syndrome charity event which meant so so much to us, especially Mum. I thought we would all meet up again but that wasn’t to be. You were one of the greats Nick. All my love, Sinead xxxx
