Heartbroken to have lost our legendary Dad suddenly on 31st December 2025, aged 85 years.

He leaves behind a huge legacy as a much-loved husband to the late Maureen, beloved Dad to Dawn, Carolyn, Ian & Stephen and their partners, treasured Grandad to Craig, Hope, Sean, Ethan, Claire and Jake and Great Grandad to Olly, Carter and Riley.

A giant of a man, former Great Britain athlete and member of the 1960 Olympic athletics team, Heaton Harrier and a long serving policeman in Northumbria Police.

Together with Mam once again.

Dad:

You ran your best It's time to rest. Your race is done You dipped and won.

Family and friends please gather for a celebration of his life at Tynemouth Crematorium on Friday 23 January at 2.15pm and afterwards at Tynemouth Golf Club.

I knew Ron when he lived in Eighth Avenue, Heaton in 1960. We would wait for him at the bottom of the street for a race up the street. He always won. Not surprisingly as my mates and I were only 7 and 8 yrs of age. A lovely man who in later years I again met as fellow Police Officers
