AnneNOWELLOf Huncoat, Accrington,
passed away peacefully in hospital on September 16, aged 76 years. The devoted wife of the late Barry, loving and loved mum of Pete and the late Geoff, cherished and adored gran of Alfie, Stan and Tommy, dear auntie of Anthony, Phil, Mark and Garry and a loved relative and friend of many. She was a well known, respected and loved former shopkeeper and proprietor of ‘Our Anne’s’ general store and off-licence. Anne was the most doting family lady who loved nothing more than getting together with family and friends and she truly doted on her three grandsons and she always enjoyed welcoming them to her home for a sleepover, giving her the chance to spoil them with love and treats. The Salvation Army was an ever present in Anne’s life and she was an active and popular member of the Burnley congregation. She always looked forward to family holidays, when many wonderful memories would be made and Anne enjoyed many weekends away with her good friends. She was a keen animal lover, giving a loving home to many pets over the years including dogs, cats and budgies. Anne would do anything for anyone, she had a heart of gold and always had time for a chat. Anne had high moral standards and expected the same from others, she said it as it was and never held back from voicing her opinion. Each Tuesday Anne always looked forward to her weekly visit to Huncoat Chippy where she was a well-loved customer. Anne was loved by all who knew her and will be fondly remembered.
