‘Big Neil’ as he was known to us was a true gentleman. A larger than life character he’d always greet you with a smile and a tale to tell. I’m pretty sure we all remember an adventure or two of his! He was something that is becoming rarer these days, a true Irish character. My condolences to the whole family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Neil for a few years when I lived in Birmingham before moving to Devon. I enjoyed a few pints with him in the Cavalier and did a couple of private jobs for him. I will never forget how decent Neil and Lily were to me, sitting me down for the big feed of breakfast at their house when working for them. Neil had an infectious sense of humour and I always looked forward to being in his presence. I was very upset to hear of his passing but I will always remember fondly the time that I knew him. Unfortunately I won't be able to make the funeral, but I would like to send my deepest condolences to Lily, Chris and the family. God love you Neil.

I worked with Neil over many years on a number of jobs in various places. We always had the craic together. He was a big man with a big voice and a big heart. It was a pleasure to know him. May he rest in peace. Joe Greene
