David Owen passed away peacefully at Badgeworth Court Care Centre on 26th June 2025 at the age of 83.
Born in Panama to British parents Ron and Florence Owen (of Wallasey, England), David attended Highgate Boarding School in London and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Upon his return to Panama, he spent his career at C. Fernie and Company shipping agency.
He retired to Longhope, Gloucestershire and later moved to Newent.
David is predeceased by his wife Arlene and his parents Ron and Florence Owen.
A devoted and loving brother he is survived by his sisters Jean Young and Rene (Jim) Seaton and his brother Phil (Sharon) Owen. He is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, to whom he was a cherished uncle and mentor.
David was a passionate golfer and a dedicated gardener. He also gave generously of his time and energy to charitable causes, initially to Rotary International in Panama and later to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in England, which embodied his deep connection to the sea and to community service.
A service of remembrance will be held at All Saints Church, Longhope on Friday 8th August at 12 noon. Following the service there will be a reception at the Latchen Room, Longhope.
In lieu of flowers donations to the RNLI may be sent to Smiths Funeral Services Ltd, Furnace Lane, Newent GK18 1DD
