PETER PARKESMAJOR PETER PARKES Suddenly in hospital surrounded by his Family on Saturday 12th February 2011. Beloved Husband of Birgit and adored Father of Jennifer, Marion, Tony, Cathy, Jonathan and Christopher. Loving Father-in-law of Reg, Richard, Linda, Gemma and Emilie. Proud Grandfather of Peter, Philip, Susannah, Andrew, Jessica and Edward and Great-Grandfather of Benjamin, Solomon and Maximilian. Much-loved Brother of Patrick and Leonard, and also of the late Pamela, Paul and Barry, and special Brother-in-law to Patricia, Evelyn, Jane, Maureen and Christina. Treasured Son-in-law of Eric and the late Elfie. A wonderful Friend and respected Colleague of so many people, Peter was director of the Band of the Grenadier Guards for many years and Professional Conductor of the Black Dyke Mills Band, William Fairey Band and Grimethorpe Colliery Band amongst others. His skills as a conductor were revered worldwide and he was for many years President of the Federation of Brass Bands and the Chairman of the Brass Band Heritage Trust. He was a true gentleman and will be very sadly missed by us all. Funeral arrangements to be confirmed, but family flowers only please with donations in lieu if desired to the British Heart Foundation.
