DoreenPOTTS3rd December 1941 - 27th February 2026 Aged 84 years.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Potts, aged 84, who passed away peacefully on 27th February 2026. Doreen was born on 3rd December 1941 and lived for many years on Hodder Street, Accrington. She loved her work as a Ward Aid at Accrington Victoria Hospital, where her caring nature, kindness, and gentle presence touched the lives of many patients and colleagues. Music was at the very heart of Doreen's life. A passionate and gifted piano player, she faithfully served at Cambridge Street Methodist Church, Accrington, playing both piano and organ for many years. She accompanied the church junior choir, led by David Lloyd, and spent countless happy hours involved in church life. Alongside her dear friend Sheila Walsh, Doreen gave her time generously, including teaching at Sunday School, where she was loved by generations of children. Doreen also enjoyed playing the keyboard for the Victorians concert party, travelling to local care homes to entertain residents, something that brought her great joy. Her music, warmth, and smile brightened many rooms. Family meant everything to Doreen. She loved spending time and visiting places with her sister Sadie, sharing many treasured memories together.
She was a devoted wife to her late husband Len and a much-loved mum to Keith and Alison, daughter-in-law Helen and son-in-law Mark. She was a proud and loving grandma to Joshua, Charlotte, and Aaron, and a cherished great grandma to Rona, Noa, and Eli. Doreen will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, her music, and her unwavering love for her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
All are welcome to celebrate Doreen's life at a service to be held at Cambridge Street Methodist Church, Accrington, on Friday 20th March at 3:00pm.
Please feel free to wear bright colours to celebrate Doreen's life.
