Cynthia Leontine eulogy by Tim Prichard
Born 30th May 1930, the eldest of three daughters to Leonard and Philis Bonas.
As unique as her name, Cynthia, an ancient name for the Moon, Leontine with the heart of a Lioness. But more than this she was a Horse spirit and a true child of Nature. Horses represent our thoughts symbolically as would befit a Gemini of key words ‘I Think’ and she certainly thought about everything, an enquiring mind.
Her early years were disrupted by World War II, and some stories of her evacuation under the protection of her weird snuff taking auntie in Fenny Compton village seemed to reflect perhaps some of her happiest years and her connection to animals and Nature.
Forever with some element of the ‘Tomboy’ and a rebelliousness through her school years, Cynthia utilized her natural artistic talent painting murals and posters to celebrate Nature and the end of the war.
Her artistic talents developed into becoming chief window dresser at ‘Sellrights’ bridal and high end fashion shop in Coventry City center, also being a Catwalk model.
Any suitors she may have acquired, as any petite blonde will attract, were swept away by one chance meeting on the bus to work one day. Entered into her life Robert William Prichard, at the time a ‘Spiv’ type character in the infamous Al Stone gang. Bob Prichard became the love of her life to which she devoted herself. Cynthia with features like Ann Todd, and Bob Prichard with features like Peter O’Toole, it became a Hollywood style wedding at Holy Trinity Church. She recalled her father Leonard, more nervous than she, stepping on her own hand made wedding dress, ‘’’Don’t worry Daddy, it will all be ok’’.
She had two sons, first Robert Leonard and then Timothy Stuart. It was soon never to be an easy life for Cynthia, family health troubles from Bob’s side became entangled with business troubles, he went from Auctioneer to self employed Estate Agent, riding high for a while and earned the title ‘’the Baron of Ball
