John's life will be celebrated at a private service at Perth Crematorium. Donations may be made to Cornhill Macmillan Centre, if desired.

Jock thank you for being there at arms length for me after my own Father passed away when I was 14. I remember being spoken to by you when you thought I was straying. You were one of my ‘Father figures’ and helped keep me on the straight and narrow. I have fond memories of New Year parties in 1 Nimmo Place when you and Norma welcomed my own family when we visited my Mum at 40 Nimmo. Rest in peace ‘Mr Rankin’ and thank you.

Words can't describe how I feel not be able to attend johns funeral i had so many memory's of the times john joe my dad and myself had together i May not be there in body but my thoughts will be with you norma and family on johns final journey all our love hope all goes well john anna and family

Another of my late Mother's family has passed from this world. I have nothing but good memories of Uncle John. He is now at his eternal rest; where the sweet purple heather blooms fragrant and free,
On a hilltop high above the Dark Island.
