Sir GeorgeREIDSir George Reid Proud son of the Wee County. Born Tullibody 1939; died peacefully at Strathcarron Hospice 12th August aged 86. Survived by his wife Daphne of 57 years, his daughter Morag and 5 grandchildren, and his 2 westies.

Journalist, Politician, Humanitarian, Academic. Former Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament. Knighted in 2012 and awarded Order of the Thistle in 2022. With love and thanks to Papi for a life full of energy and purpose, jaunts and stories, dog walks and good food, challenge and encouragement- and his deep love of Scotland.

There will be a private family funeral, followed by a public memorial service at a later date. Details will be made available in due course. If anyone would like to make a donation George's wish was to support the International Red Cross (ICRC) where he worked for many years in Geneva, Switzerland.
