AlwynROBERTSof Accrington, passed away peacefully with his daughter at his side on May 1, aged 94 years.
The loved father of Julia, father-in-law of Alan, dear uncle of Diane, Sandra and Colin and a close friend to many over the years.
A chartered accountant by profession, Alwyn spent many years working in practice before moving into education as a university lecturer at Huddersfield University, where he shared his extensive knowledge with his students. Alwyn was a unique character who always lived true to himself. A proud lifelong supporter of Accrington Stanley and a former season ticket holder, he loved attending matches to cheer on his favourite team. He was also a familiar face at Accrington Golf Club, where he spent many happy hours on the course with friends. Alwyn had a passion for dancing, particularly ballroom, and always looked forward to stepping onto the dance floor to showcase his moves. He loved life and made the most of every day. Travel was something he greatly enjoyed, and his favourite destination was Spain, a place where he could relax, unwind, and immerse himself in the local culture.
Alwyn’s funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road, Accrington BB5 6HA on Friday, May 30 at 1.40pm.
