Andrew (Drew)ROGERSONIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Rogerson, on 9th December 2024, at the age of 83, following a short illness.
Andrew was born on 7th February 1941 in Whins of Milton to Alexander and Anne (Nee Fisher) Rogerson. Andrew was married to the love of his life, his beloved wife Eleanor, for 62 years. He was a dedicated family man and passionate footballer and former centre-half for Stirling Albion Football Club. His football career spanned several clubs before signing with Stirling Albion in 1965. Whilst with the Binos, Andrew was part of the historic team in 1966 that made Stirling Albion the first British club to play in Japan and where he played a part in their memorable victory over Japan's national team. After leaving Stirling Albion in 1968, he continued his career with Albion Rovers, Stenhousemuir, St Mirren, Ayr United and Raith Rovers before coaching Bo'ness United Football Club to the Junior Scottish Cup in 1975-76. In later years and following retirement, Andrew enjoyed a quieter life in Dunblane and latterly Bridge of Allan with his wife Eleanor. He is also lovingly and fondly remembered by his two daughters, Elaine and Nicola and his granddaughter Samantha. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and former football colleagues who had the privilege of knowing him. Andrew, the second born of four siblings, Anne, John and Sandy is survived by his brother John Rogerson. A private funeral for family has been arranged at Stirling Crematorium on 24th December at 10.00 am and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Strathcarron Hospice in Andrew's memory.
