CathleenSMITHIn loving memory of Cathleen Smith (nee Connor), formerly of Regent Street, Rutherglen. Passed away on 5 November 1990. Dearly beloved wife of the late Cecil Frederick Smith. Dearest sister to the late Valentine, Jack, Eddie and Betty and a dearly loved aunt.

You were the memory keeper for the family and passed to me all my dad Jack's letters and photos from Burma during the war so that I could have the privilege of telling his story and served with Road Transport in London yourself during WW2.

You were a loving and gracious lady and a wonderful letter writer too as well as a great support to all of us throughout your life.

"At rest in God's garden."

Love Always, Dorothyxx

Always Remembered,
Always Loved

One of dad's letters to you from Burma during the war is on display at Rutherglen Library along with the picture of you and dad and Eddie reunited in London after the war was over.

Thank you for being in my life and for all your wisdom and cheerleading from the sidelines and for the gift of writing that we shared. I am still fighting the good fight and keeping the faith.

You are with your beloved Cecil, a lovely gentleman and with dad and your brothers and sisters and mother and father.

I always remember that holiday I had staying with you and Uncle Cecil in Wincanton and the places you took me and the calm pace of your lives and then how concerned you were for mum when she and I came to visit you in hospital not long before you passed -though we didn't know that then. Oh my the flowers from so many people at your funeral. So many friends and such an impact on all their lives. You made a good life and did what life meant you to do. A great support to us all throughout.
Never forgotten. God Bless,
Love always, your niece Dorothyxx

Time passes,
Memories stay,
Loved and remembered
Every day

I still have all your letters Aunt Cathie and still talk about you. Mum always said I was very like you. I am still scribbling too and fighting the good fight. I always remember your wisdom and your calm nature. You always said, no matter what the situation " things will work out, They always do." In other words, have faith. I have said that phrase to myself and many others over the years and still do. I hope I have kept the faith with you and all the family.
Love always. God Bless, Your niece, Dorothyxx
