IainSPENCEMR Iain Alexander Spence, of Laburnum Cottages, Crawshawbooth, passed away on Sunday, September 1, aged 61. Iain was a health and safety officer with Vita Foam before retiring after 24 years of service. He also worked as a miner at Hapton Valley and Agecroft Pits. Iain loved walking, fishing and shooting, played numerous sports, especially football and rugby, and was a member of quiz teams. He enjoyed socialising with many friends and spending time with his family. When he was young, he played rugby at Rossendale RUFC, Rossendale British Legion Football Team, and played workshop league cricket for Rossendale Combining. He leaves partner Ellen, son Jon, daughter-in-law Sarah, two grandsons Maxwell and Aidan, step-daughter Jenna, her partner Paul, three granddaughters Tess, Zara and Sadie, brother James and family, Ellen's dad Brian Thorpe and family. The service and cremation took place on Monday, September 16, at Burnley Crematorium, led by minister Kirsty Goodinson. Funeral director: Dawn Winfield for Fred Hamer Funeral Service.
