Elizabeth BettySTEPHENSSTEPHENS Elizabeth((Betty Bowen) 11.01.1918 - 03.05.2008 With sadness Byron, Colin and Gloria announce the death of their dear mother at Prince Charles Hospital on May 3, 2008. Widow of Dick, mother-in-law to Marilyn and Brian, loving grandmother to Helen and Jeremy, Stephen, Stephen and Mandy, Ceri and Andrew, Laura-Jayne, Richard and Mark, and loving Great Grandmother to Sophie, Keiron, Nathan, Daniel, Adam and Tabitha. Betty lived most of her life at Plymouth Street and Brodawel, Merthyr Tydfil before failing eyesight forced her to move to Kevin Ryan Court, Georgetown. She led a very full life until the beginning of this year when her health started to deteriorate at the age of 90. Her popularity showed in the many family, friends and neighbours who attended her funeral at the Parish Church, Merthyr, then at Llwydcoed Crematorium and later at Tregenna Hotel. Sincere thanks to everyone who attended her funeral and those who sent messages of sympathy and donations in lieu of flowers which will be given to Cancer Aid, Merthyr. Our thanks to Paul Davies and Malcolm Rees who helped as bearers and to Hubert Everson who paid a moving tribute to Mam and sang her favourite hymn at the service. Many thanks to Minister David Jones who officiated at the service with compassion and to Carwyn Iles and staff for their dignity, professionalism and support at such a sad time. Also thanks to Suzanne for the beautiful family flowers and a special thank you to Francis Barry of Evolve who was a sincere friend to Mam during her last few months. 'Sleep now Mam, no more suffering.'
