Peter MadenSTOCKSMr Peter Leslie Maden Stocks died at home peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, June 21, aged 87. A service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, Bacup on Tuesday, June 29 at 11.30am, followed by burial at Bacup Cemetery. Born in Bacup and after being educated at Thorn Primary and Skipton Grammar School, Peter entered the family business John Maden & Son Limited, rising to Managing Director, and finally chairman. He was a former director of the Bacup Times, Bacup Estates and Maidenese Ltd. He was also a former Worshipful Master of Roclyffe Masonic Lodge, Bacup. Peter was a keen golfer, joining Bacup Golf Club in 1953 and was captain in 1976 and President from 1987 to 1989. He was also President of the East Lancashire Golf Association in 1992. Peter was a lifelong worshipper at Trinity Baptist Church, Bacup. Father of his late son Nicholas, Peter leaves his loving wife of 64 years, Jean, son Mark, daughter Julia, and daughter-in-law Pauline, grandchildren Madelaine, Jonathan, Emma, Hannah, Rose, Jack and Tom, and great-grandchildren Miles, Gracie-May and Tobias.
