Today was full of very mixed emotions. I met with lots of Penhellis carers at Crowan Church. We celebrated the life of Judith, a truly remarkable woman, who sadly passed away. She is free of the illness that constrained her. It was nice to hear how Judith and her family appreciated the care Judith was given by the Penhellis cares. She wasn’t a client - she was family. A measure of how nice Judith was, is reflected in how many Penhellis staff were there today. Judith, I hope by know you are in a bar, by the beach with Showaddywaddy blaring out of the jukebox and cats and dogs abound. I will miss you. Barry X

I met Judith when I was a carer and I guess it was around 10 to 15 years ago. We were of the same era and we reminisced about the good old days. We invariably put the world to rights. I’ve never know anyone so cheerful and resilient , considering her plight. After I retired I continued to pop in to see Judith and invariably my visits would run well past an hour or more. We all saw
Kevin Sinfield carry Rob Burrow, the rugby player with motor neurone decease, over the finishing line of a marathon. I used to dream of driving to Judith’s, throwing her over my shoulder and taking her to the beach or a pub. Unfortunately that would not have been allowed. She was truly a woman of indomitable spirit. I will miss her. She is no longer constrained by the illness, she soars free with the birds. Rest easy lady. Barry x.
