Almost 67 years of marriage, you are everything to me . We made a pact to be the best we can be with each other , to raise our family with love and care. We didn’t have much but it was more than we needed. We were together , through thick and thin.

You are resting now , not in pain , an end to worry and getting a well earned rest, you said you’d look after me and by god you did . We joked about me coming second to Glebe Rangers , you had a spirit and determination that people could only dream to be gifted with. I know our family always came first x

“Life is only a Dash *

You were my lover and best friend . I think of your time with us
from the beginning to the end.

I start with your birth in 1941
And I remember the following dates with tears,

As a family we recall what mattered most of all, Was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
 That you spent with us
and what that time is worth.

it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

You would ask us to think about this long and hard;
Are there things we’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
 And always try to understand
 The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a short while.

So when your eulogy has been read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things we say, about how you spent your dash?

A Husband, Dad, and friend I think he would have appreciated everything , right to the very end.

I miss you dearly but I feel your presence constantly , thank you for all that you were and all that we achieved .
Your heart is mine and mine yours,
Sylvia Sutton

Oh Grandad.
Words cannot summarise the impact you had on our lives.

The extroverted introvert.
The man who dreaded parties, only to later disappear and return wearing an Indian headdress.

You had the wildest imagination — and it spread.
Your wooden trestles became the grandest racehorses.
Your scaffolding poles were Olympic gymnastics bars, carrying us to gold-medal wins.
Your pickled onions sure did help us grandchildren keep the werewolves away from your home. You were right. We never had a wolf incident.

Your loud infectious laugh slowly became a Muttley laugh over the years, one the grandchildren adored and parroted all the way home. Eve and Zak loved it.

You cared with all your heart. You felt our emotions as strongly as we did ourselves. You were always there. Nothing was ever too much, and you never gave up! Did you ever stop with the football? I’m not so sure… I sense Brackens love of balls stemmed from you wanting to kick it to him ;-)

Your grass had the finest stripes. Your mowers were cleaned more than your teacup.
Your shed was Aladdin's cave of wonders “just in case” somebody needed that small plastic rod from a 1970s shelving unit. Who knows when that will come in handy, right?

You showed me that hard work pays off. That love conquers all. That humour can brighten the dullest skies.

Drink your Sports Direct mug of tea and crack on.
A smile can change a day — so share happiness, not sadness.

That is a lesson I will continue to pass on.

I respect you for everything you taught us, and I will miss you greatly. Please rest assured that your legacy will continue to live on in all of us.
Rest peacefully, Grandad. All my love, Carina x

"The Essence of You"

Dad, you lived with purpose,

filling our lives with laughter and warmth.

You embraced challenges with a fierce heart, and hard work, “making do” always felt like you were giving us the stars,
showing us that strength and love is found in kindness.

With a twinkle in your eye, a heart filled with compassion,
You reminded us to find joy in the small things, to dream boldly, and to love fiercely.

Your laughter echoed through our days,
A melody that still lingers.

You are still our guiding light,
a gentle force that taught us resilience,
that life is a journey worth savouring.

Now, as we gather in your memory,
we feel your presence in every shared story,
in the moments of silence, in the laughter that follows.

Though you’ve taken your leave,
Your legacy is woven into the fabric of our hearts,
a testament to a life well-lived,
a celebration of love that will never fade.

You will be forever a part of us,
in every heartbeat, every memory,
in the essence of who we are.
You built a legacy that we can pass on through generations,

It’s time to rest now Dad, thank you for making us who we are.
