I was thinking about Robert, and wondering if he was still performing.
In checking it out, instead of finding his latest venues I discovered his obituary. It was a great shock that he had passed away before his time.
My memories of Robert include the time back in 1985, when he and fellow musician Dave Barratt put music to lyrics I had wrote about the tragic mill fire at Colne Bridge, which happened Valentines Day, 1818. It was written to commemorate the 17 young girls who fell victim to the inferno.
You did a great job Robert; play on and keep up the music on the Nightshift.
Richard.

I first met Rob about 40 years ago when I moved to West Yorkshire. We did a couple of gigs together and remained firm friends ever since. We got together again in March 2024 and were a busy local duo playing across Yorkshire, Linc's & Notts. Our most recent gig was end of Jan. 2025.
A wonderful musician & friend, we swapped many laughable stories from our clubland past. A sad loss to me and all of his many friends. He'll be missed forever. Rob

Robert was one of the most genuine people I had the pleasure to meet. One of my favourites.

Extremely saddened to hear of his premature passing.

He was a lovely genuine man. I remember him fondly as a workmate, a friend, and an incredibly talented musician with an encyclopaedic knowledge of musical equipment and music trivia.

Extremely private but great company to those he 'could tolerate'

"Only the good die young"

I feel he would have approved of my musical reference.

We shared many fun conversations over the years including our love of dogs so it's fitting his donation goes to the dogs trust.

Best Man at my wedding and a very close friend, like family, since we first met in the 80's. Always talented, reliable and dependable with a unique spark. He will leave a big gap in people who's lives he touched.
