Gary in the short period I have known you and the fleeting visits to the smoke shelter for a bit of squaddie banter I thank you mate, it was always a pleasure to be in your company. RIP wee man it isn't the same without you. My thoughts and condolences to all your family at this time.

I met Gary when he was 16 years old at Printing College in Leeds, he was a fantastic printer but desperately colour blind - I bet that most of his Army buddies were never aware of that, he could only see shades of grey, no colour, he taught himself the different shades of grey for wires before he applied for the Army, that is a story within itself!. All I can say is that I never stopped laughing when I was in his company and will never have another friend like him, they broke the mould when he was born, thats for sure. Gary was the an incredibly proud father, Grandfather and uncle, he was lucky to meet his soulmate Claire who turned is life upside down and settled him down to be the man he became in the last 16 years. I wish I could be at the send off, there are so many stories to tell. We will raise a glass in Spain for him at the time of the funeral. I’ve attached a photo of me and Gaz on our way to a fancy dress party, obviously Gaz just went in his dessert storm fatigues, we had such a great night!
Well, finally, after 31 years of knowing, laughing and counting you as one of my dearest friends mate, it’s time to say goodbye and thank you, I am a better man for knowing you mate, RIP Gaz, I hope we meet again in the next life 💔
